Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a non-profit educational website that was created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan. It’s mission is to provide ‘a free world-class education for anyone anywhere’. The main premise of the web-site was to offer educational lessons through the use of video based instructions on different subjects allowing anyone interested to learn regardless of their location. Since Khan is based on personalising the learning experience in accordance with the student’s abilities , students will also be offered challenges, tasks and lessons to complete from Khan Academy.
Khan Academy also uses gamification elements based on the idea of using gaming features to ensure students are encouraged and motivated to pursuit with their learning. This is done through the use of energy points, badges and a grid showcasing what percent of a mission you have completed.
